WHAT TO EXPECT
At Grace Counseling Center we believe no one should carry their burdens alone. But asking for help is hard. We get it.
Whether you’re processing relationship struggles, trauma from your past, anxieties in the present, or seeking guidance for what’s next; we’re glad you’re here. It would be our joy to walk with you towards hope and healing.
When you arrive, you can check in, help yourself to a water and take a seat as you wait for your counselor to greet you. Each session is designed for a 50-minute discussion, although your first might be longer. Session rates will range from $100-$150 per session.

We first see healing through the lens of Theology. We must first see ourselves as God's creation (imago dei). Through that perspective we can see everything else and can address our struggles and brokenness.
Healing can happen when we not just consider our emotions, fractured relationships and trauma's, but we understand that although we are sinful, we are deeply loved by a redeeming God. Walking through the Biblical story of humanity is important for us to understand and begin to address the issues we face.

While most Christian Counseling Centers begin with Psychology, for us, it comes after Theology. Psychology, however, is a beautiful and powerful way to address the struggles we face with practical application.
Psychology can help come alongside scripture and the presence of God to help us understand the complexities of our minds, emotions & our souls. It can help us treat and care for our internal struggles.

We see the church (Ecclesiology) as not just something to do on a Sunday for the believer, but a part of God's design for our redemption and healing.
You should feel supported, challenged and encouraged by a local church. We believe that this is part of how to heal in all of the struggles of life. The church was created by a command of God as part of his mission to reach the world & to care for his people.

We know that healing is a process. Along the way in your healing journey you should be gently challenged to serve the community in which you live. As Christians, we have been given a mission and purpose to make disciples (Matt.28).
We call this Missiology, and it is an essential component to the growth and healing for every disciple of Jesus Christ. While you may not be ready to engage in this mission, we believe it is also part of your healing and is necessary for fulfillment and kingdom impact.

Our fees range from $100 - $150 per session. Your counselor will try to work with you if the cost is an issue.
Your counselor may also suggest a longer session if needed and determine how many sessions based on your needs. You will pay for your session either before or at the time of your session.

At Grace Counseling Center we have Licensed Mental Health Professionals who have satisfied all the state requirements for licensure (ex: supervised counseling experience, passing a state licensing exam). Our counselors will hold licenses in a variety of different specialties, such as LMFT, LCSW, LPC, etc.
Pre-Licensed Counselors who have earned a Masters degree from an accredited university and are working towards licensure by completing the required 3,000 hours of supervised practice. These counselors could include registered associates for APCC, ASW, AMFT.
We also provide Practicum Students who are currently enrolled in a counseling program and are earning the required counseling hours needed for the completion of their degree.
Trained biblical counselors who have experience in vocational counseling and education. These counselors are trained by professional organizations such as the Association of Biblical Counseling.
We provide regular training and resources from the Association of Biblical Counseling to all of our counselors.

No, we don't take insurance. But, depending on your individual coverage, you may qualify for out-of-network benefits. Our counselors are able to provide medically-coded receipts for clients who wish to file for reimbursement with their own insurance companies. Please check with your insurance carrier for details about your specific coverage.

We understand that things come up. If you need to reschedule or cancel, we ask that you provide a 24 hour notice to your counselor.
If you don't show up for your scheduled appointment and you haven't given a 24-hour notice in advance, you'll be required to pay the full cost of the session.

MEET GRACE CHURCH
The Grace Counseling Center was born out of Grace Church, which has served North Park and San Diego with the Gospel for over 100 years. We are passionate about the church being a family on mission with a vibrant Sunday gathering filled with missionary people making disciples and living in community during the week.
Grace San Diego was established in 1912. Grace, for several years, was known as “Scott Memorial Baptist” before the name was changed to Grace Church San Diego in 2009.
The mission of Grace Church San Diego is to Make Resilient Disciples who reorient their lives to the way of Jesus. We are organized around regional house churches while living on mission according to the Great Commission found in Matthew 28.
We grow with a strong foundation on Biblical truth and a focus on being family on mission in North Park and throughout the city of San Diego for the glory of God.

*Every 2nd & 4th Tuesday of the month there is street cleaning on Oregon Street. Please park in our parking lot. There are designated spaces for our counseling center.
